Rajput community leaders and various organisations have raised objection over the film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, alleging that the filmmaker had distorted historical facts regarding Rani Padmavati and demanded a ban on it.
Kataria said his department decided to refer the objections regarding with the film to the art and culture department.
"The art and culture department will look what the objections are and what can be done. The department will discuss and consult with expert and historians. If necessary, discussions with those who are opposing the film will also be done," the minister told PTI.
Rajput community leaders, the Karni Sena, BJP MLA and member of the erstwhile Jaipur royal family Diya Kumari opposed the film.
Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal today held a demonstration against the film demanding ban on its release in Rajasthan.
Hundreds of the members demonstrated outside the collectorate in Jaipur and handed over a representation, addressed to chief minister, to a district administration official demanding the ban.
"We are demanding a complete ban on the film which the filmmaker made with distorted facts. It is clear from promos that objectionable facts related to Rani Padmavati have been shown in the film," Ashok Singh, state coordinator of the Bajrang Dal, claimed.
Senior BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari held the state government responsible for the controversy, alleging that the tourism department in one of its tweets had called Rani Padmini Alaudin Khilji's beloved.
"Tourism department in its tweet (last year) called Rani Padmavati the beloved of Alaudin Khilji. This dishonor was brought to Rani Padmavati by the tourism department and the company which handles the publicity of the department," he alleged.
He alleged that the state government led by Vasundhra Raje had worked against the honour of the state and also removed a poem on Rani Laxmibai from school syllabus.
