Arunachal chalks out a 2-phase strategy for NFSO

The Arunachal Pradesh government has chalked out a two-phased strategy for effective and timely implementation of the National Food Security Ordinance (NFSO) 2013.
In the first phase, the NFSO would be launched in three blocks - one each from a district in East, West and Central Arunachal Pradesh from August 20 next, official sources said here today.
The decision was taken at a meeting convened by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki with state's Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mossang, Principal advisor to the Chief Minister Tenzing Norbu Thongdok and senior officers of the state government, including chief secretary, development commissioner (Finance), secretary food and civil supplies and other officers.
The Chief Minister had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of chief secretary to work out the details to implement NFSO, the sources said.
The Committee would submit its report by August 6 for various steps to be taken for implementation of the scheme with special emphasis for launching it in the three blocks to be decided by the state government, the sources said.
As per the provisions of the Ordinance, each person belonging to priority households shall be entitled to receive 5 kg of food grain per person per month at subsidised price.
Supply of rice is to be made available to the eligible persons at the subsidised rate of Rs 3 per kg and wheat for Rs 2 per kg.
