Arunachal monitoring movement of underground elements: DGP

Arunachal Pradesh is strictly monitoring movement of underground elements in the state's territory following 'Operation All-out' launched by security forces in neighbouring Assam against NDFB (S) militants.
"We are working on all movements on such elements who have reportedly sneaked into the state's territory after operation launched against them," said Director General of Police S Nithianandam in an interaction programme with media persons at police headquarters here today.
"We have excellent coordination with Army and Assam police and putting out all efforts to flush them out of the state," he said, adding, IGP (law and order) I D Shukla went to a few such areas yesterday in the inter-state boundary and launched operation to flush them out.

The anti-insurgency operation led by Shukla is going on in Boguli, Deka, Kakoi and Borsetum reserve forest areas in state's Papum Pare district adjoining the Lilabari airport in North Lakhimpur district of neighbouring Assam.
The DGP while presenting a report on various achievements of the department in the last two years claimed that due to anti-insurgency steps, underground activities have significantly decreased in troubled Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.
He said, various measures have been initiated to modernise the state police with state-of-the-art weapons, recruitment of police personnel and use of modern technology.

"There is a need for commitment, competency, courage, credibility, communication and managing organizational changes.

Ethics and integrity of police force is important.
"The only way to know our strength and weakness is through feedback of common citizen," the DGP flanked by IGP Shukla, AIGP Tussar Taba and a host of senior cops said.
He said as all police work need specialisation there was a need for appropriate specialised training in each field of work including investigation, traffic control, security and riot control.
"Equally important is the use of technology in policing. Since the integrity of police force has always been questioned, it is of utmost importance that all police work is done with the use of modern technology. All procedures should be recorded in CCTV, audio visual tapes," he said.
