Arunachal to appoint expert to increase revenue earning

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has suggested for appointment of a tax consultant of repute to guide the state government to increase its tax base for generating more revenue.
He shared this in a high level interactive review meeting of Tax & Excise and transport department here yesterday, a statement from the CMO said here today.
While lauding the departments for being the highest revenue earners of the state, Tuki stressed on more efforts for plugging the revenue leakages.
It was also discussed to constitute a committee to look into the matter of double taxation, if any raised from different stakeholders, the statement said.
He chaired the meeting to ascertain the functioning of the department as well as the revenue collection in the last financial year and possibilities of increasing the collection in the current financial year.
The meeting was also attended by his Principal Advisor Kameng Dolo, Tax & Excise Parliamentary Secretary Tapak Taku besides host of officers of both the departments.
Taku highlighted the problems of the department and requested the chief minister to organise a meeting of all deputy commissioners to discuss the issues relating to TDS and office accommodation to resolve them.
While discussing on the state transport, the CM directed the department officers to ensure compulsory insurance cover on all state transport buses, besides conducting in service training and health checks for drivers on regular intervals, the statement added.
