Arunachal Pradesh Governor J P Rajkhowa has condemned the alleged murder of a student from the state in Assam and urged the government of the neighbouring state to ensure all steps to provide security to the Arunachalee people.
The Governor also demanded that Assam Police thoroughly investigate the death of the youth and bring the culprits to justice at the earliest, a Raj Bhawan communique today said.
The mutilated body of 24-year-old Zilla Taku was found under mysterious circumstances in Guwahati on March 23.
Taku hails from Bana in East Kameng district.
Rajkhowa requested his family members, friends and relatives to assist and cooperate for a speedy police investigation and requested the Assam government to extend ex-gratia to his family.
In view of the seriousness of the case, the Governor felt that it should be immediately referred to the CID by Assam government and the scope for a CBI inquiry should be kept open, the communique said.
The Governor had spoken to Police Commissioner of Guwahati, Mukesh Agarwal and requested him to personally monitor the case to which the latter agreed to put the DCP Crime Branch to directly supervise in the case.
The Police Commissioner also requested the relatives and family members of the youth to get in touch with the local police station or him for assistance.
Deputy resident commissioner Assam, D J Bora has been informed to collect contact details of relatives and family members and inform the CP and also arrange for their meeting with the Commissioner of police or deputy commissioner of police of crime, Guwahati, it added.
