"It will be a referendum on the performance of the government", Chandy told reporters here.
Chandy expressed confidence that Congress candidate would win the election and said poll result would be a recognition to the development works initiated along with welfare measures under government's objective of 'development and care'.
He downplayed the objection raised by a section of Kerala Student's Union, the pro-Congress student' outfit, on the selection of K S Sabarinath, son of former Speaker G Karthikeyan as, candidate.
Former speaker M Vijayakumar of CPI-M is the LDF candidate and Former Union minister O Rajagopal would be BJP candidate for the polls necessitated following the death of Karthikeyan.
