According to the police, a large group of followers of Asaram gathered at Jantar Mantar from where they marched towards the Parliament Street police station and courted arrest.
The demonstrators, who were from Delhi and nearby states including Rajasthan, claimed that he is innocent and was being targeted.
"The protestors have submitted a memorandum to us which is addressed to the President demanding the release of Asaram Bapu which we will send to him (President) tomorrow," said a police official.
The demonstrators dispersed after submitting the memorandum.
