A 25-year-old ASHA worker was attacked by two youths who attempted to rape her and then beat her up after she fought back in a village here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday under the New Mandi police station area, they said.
The accused had dragged the woman into an empty house to rape her, following which she resisted and raised an alarm, causing a group of people to come to her rescue, officials said.
The accused fled from the scene and a hunt was on to nab them, police said.
Meanwhile, officials claimed to have arrested an accused, Pervaiz, in connection with a rape case of 2016 from Shamli district last evening.
