Filmmaker Ashim Ahluwalia's short segment "Palace of Horrors" will premiere at the prestigious South by Southwest festival as part of the horror anthology "The Field Guide To Evil".
South by Southwest (SXSW) will be held in Austin, Texas from March 9 to 18 this year.
The "Palace of Horrors", which features Niharika Singh, Mark O'Gleby, Henry Throop and Robin Das, will have its premiere at the festival on March 16.
"It's quite an honour to be the first Indian filmmaker to have a world premiere at SXSW. It's become the most relevant film festival in the US today. Our film 'The Field Guide to Evil' is a collaboration between 8 international directors, all very exciting in their own right, and in that sense is very different from what I'm used to.
"It's a horror film, inspired by dark folk tales from around the world, and the buzz on the premiere has been huge. I'm really excited for the audience to experience this," Ahluwalia said in statement.
"The Field Guide To Evil" has been produced by Alamo Drafthouse, Christos V. Konstantakopoulos, Keith and Jess Calder, and Legion M, amongst others. The film features dark folk tales with creepy stories of possession, curses, love, lust and envy.
Apart from Ahluwalia, other filmmakers who have worked on the anthology include, Peter Strickland (Hungary), Calvin Reeder (United States), Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala (Austria), Katrin Gebbe (Germany), Can Evrenol (Turkey), Agnieszka Smoczynska (Poland) and Yannis Veslemes (Greece).
