The 37-year-old was India's best bowler during the ICC World T20 where he got 5 wickets in 5 games at a miserly economy rate of 5.94 runs per over. He was named in 'Team of the Tournament'.
Nehra sustained the injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15, as he aborted his run-up and was seen in considerable pain.
According to 'ESPN Cricinfo': "Nehra was advised to consult Dr Andrew Williams, an orthopaedic specialist in London, and the surgery took place on Tuesday night."
It is expected that Nehra, if he decides to continue playing, will take around six months for complete recovery as well as rehabilitation programme.
Nehra's name has been doing the rounds for quite some time as the bowling coach of the senior team as he shares a fantastic rapport with current team players.
