Bollywood filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who has made movies like "Lagaan", "Swades" and "Jodha Akbar", says he likes doing lot of research on his films even though if it takes time.
The 52-year-old helmer met film students and aspiring filmmakers under Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) masterclass programme last evening here.
IFTDA organised director's master-class session moderated by renowned television director Ravi Rai.
Gowariker spoke about the research that goes into making a film especially if it is about historical characters.
"I always do the research myself. I read all the books on the subject that I am going to adapt and understand the era myself. It can take a long time but it prepares you well," Ashutosh, who is working on his most ambitious film "Mohenjo Daro", said last evening.
Ashutosh advised aspiring actors to be completely prepared for auditions and not be disheartened if they get rejected.
"Remember your talent is not getting rejected, may be you didn't suit the part you auditioned for," he added.
CBFC member said a platform like this helps young filmmakers gain practical knowledge.
"Film students generally learn about film-making in classes and lack the practical knowledge of film-making. A platform like this helps these aspiring filmmakers to learn and grasp the practicality of the creative business," Ashoke Pandit said.
