ASI submits status report on Jagamohan repair work in HC

Submitting a status report on the repair undertaken in the prayer hall (Jagamohan) of Jagannath Temple at Puri, the Archaeological Survey of India today told the Orissa High Court that 80 per cent of the work was over and that the remaining work would be completed soon.
A division bench comprising Justices B K Nayak and D P Choudhury, however, asked the ASI counsel to file the status report in the form of an affidavit by August 3, the date fixed for next hearing of the PIL filed by a Cuttack-based social activist.
The HC has also asked the state government and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to put forward their views on the status of the repair of Jagamohan in affidavit before the next date of hearing.

There was widespread resentment across the state over the condition of Jagamohan and the protracted delay in its repair.
