Assam boy excels in World Karate Championship

Joon got the second position with a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a citation in the Senior Male Black Belt Kumite event organised by the World Sunakoshi Sutukan Karate Organisation, Sri Lanka.

The two-day Championship concluded Colombo recently.

Mridu hailing from Jorhat in upper Assam represented the country along with another fellow Assam participant Manas Kumar Nath from Morigaon district.

Joon was accorded a warm welcome here on his victorious return and felicitated by various organisations,including the Upper Assam Chamber of Commerce, Jorhat Youth Congress and Assam School of Sports Karate Association.
