Assam dismiss Odisha for 88, reach 137-8 in 2nd inngs on day 2

Pacer Krishna Das returned with a seven-wicket haul as Assam bundled out Odisha for 88 and then reached 137 for eight in their second innings on the second day of the Group A Ranji Trophy cricket encounter here today.
Resuming at overnight score of 52 for 5, Odisha could add only 36 runs today to their first innings total with AR Sarangi (27) emerging as the top-scorer.
Krishna took three wickets today, dismissing overnight batsman Sarangi, SB Pradhan (2) and B Mohanty (7), while AK Das scalped the wickets of A Mallick (4) and AK Sahoo (6) to secure a crucial four-run first innings lead.
In their second essay, Assam found themselves tottering at 13 for three in 5 overs as KN Saikia, skipper G Sharma and Amit Verma were dismissed for naught. Later, J Syed Mohammad's unbeaten 42 and contributions from Tarjinder Singh (27) helped Assam to end the day on a positive note.
For Odisha, Mohanty (3/29) and SB Pradhan (3/27) snapped three wickets each, while Sahoo took one wicket.
At the draw of stumps, AK Das (4) was giving company to Mohammad at the Barabati Stadium as Assam lead by 141 runs with two wickets remaining.
