Assam govt committed to providing a corruption-free admin: CM

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said his government was committed to providing a corruption-free administration and urged the officers to help it succeed in this regard.
The officers should discourage corrupt practices in their offices and work towards building a "people-friendly" environment, he told the inaugural session of the induction programme of the 2016 batch ACS and Allied Services Officers at Assam Administrative Staff College here.
"It is very important that the officers remain honest in their actions, courteous in their behaviour and compassionate towards the needs of the poorest of the poor," the chief minister said.
Stating that the confidence of the people in the system could only be gained through "committed service", he asked the new officers to work diligently to strengthen the administration.

Sonowal also stressed on the need to uphold the dignity of labour and advised the probationers to regularly interact with the grade IV staff to know of their problems and build a healthy working relationship.
