"June 30 was the hottest day in the past decade at a high of 34.4 degrees Celsius," a spokesman of the MeT office said today.
The day temperature yesterday was three degrees above normal during this part of the season. It was also the hottest day of the season so far, he said.
Earlier, the hottest June day during the past decade was recorded in 2007 when the mercury settled at 34.3 degrees Celsius followed by 34.1 in 2013.
The MeT predicted continuation of the week-long hot weather with no major change expected in coming days.
The night temperature in Srinagar, recorded yesterday, was also three degrees above normal at 19.6 degrees Celsius - which was also the highest during this season.
