"TV has grown over a period of time technologically and marketing wise. But I do feel at script and content level there needs to be improvement. By this I mean that audience is not ready or open for newer concepts. At the end of the day people want to watch 'saas-bahu' shows," Ali told PTI.
Ali played the role of a woman in the TV show 'Comedy Circus' and is again seen essaying the role of an old woman in 'Comedy Nights with Kapil'. The show has comedian Kapil Sharma at the centre stage.
"I observe people and do things. It is not easy to play woman, considering the clothes and make up that one has to wear. It was tough and tiring. But I am sure I have played woman gracefully," Ali said.
"Comedy shows are stress free for people. They are a mode of entertainment. It is difficult to make people laugh as there are lots of expectations. Today audience is ready for comedy show and one has to come up with new ways to make people laugh," he added.
