Auto unions have complained about the misuse of auto permits and permit will be issued only to those having driving license and badges, Reddy told reporters here.
He said government had earlier decided to issue 4500 auto permits for handicapped and women, but as auto drivers unions have complained about its misuse, it has been put on hold.
Stating that autos cannot be registered without having permit, Reddy said strict action will be taken against those transport officials who facilitate such misuse.
Reddy also said an amendment has been made in the law to ensure that one person gets only one permit and added that orders have been issued to identify those possessing more than one and cancel them.
