Refuting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's charge that he and his party were pushing the Sethusamudram Channel Project to further the business interests, former Union Minister and DMK leader T R Baalu today said the project, if implemented, would have helped in the development of southern districts of the state.
Addressing a series of election meetings at Pattukottai, he charged that AIADMK and BJP had stalled the project by filing cases in the Supreme court.
"The Rs 2427-crore project was nearing completion when the Chief Minister and BJP got stay from the court and stalled it", Baalu, contesting from Thanjavur constituency for the April 24 Lok Sabha polls, said.
