Badal approves design of famous Sikh warrior's statue

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today approved the architectural design of the statue of famous Sikh warrior Baba Jiwan Singh, to be installed at his upcoming memorial in Anandpur Sahib.
Presiding over a meeting here to review the progress of the Rs 25-crore Baba Jiwan Singh Memorial, Badal also gave nod to the site plan of the memorial which has been designed by the Department of Architecture and Planning (DAP) of the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.
Explaining the salient features of the layout plan of the Memorial, DAP's Dean, S S Bahl said, the memorial would comprise a vast gallery, theatre/auditorium, arena for displaying martial arts like 'Gatka', administrative block, outdoor plaza, souvenir shops and parking.
Bahl said that a life-sized statue of Baba Jiwan, also known as Bhai Jaita ji would be installed on the raised platform of 10-me height.
This memorial was aimed at propagating the rich legacy of Baba Jiwan Singh amongst the future generations, who displayed highest moral values of selfless service, commitment and dedication towards the 'Khalsa Panth' founded by the tenth Sikh master, Guru Gobind Singh, an official release said here.
Taking part in the deliberations, the Chief Minister approved the design of the statue subject to its final clearance from the Akal Takht, supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs.
The memorial would be dedicated to the people in April 2016.
