The sacred portals of the famous Badrinath temple in Garhwal Himalayas will be closed for over eight hours due to lunar eclipse on October 8.
Badrinath Mandir Samiti Dharmadhikari Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal said due to lunar eclipse the doors of the famed Himalayan shrine will be shut at 8.20 AM on October 8 and reopened after over eight hours at five minutes past 6 PM on the same day.
Devotees will not be able to pay obeisance to Lord Vishnu at the shrine during the period, he said.
Lakhs of pilgrims from all over the country and abroad throng the temple for pilgrimage every year.
This year the portals of the shrine are scheduled to be closed for winter on November 27.
The temple becomes inaccessible during winter because of snow.
