The Baha'is of Nepal, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana recently converged at the the Lotus Temple for a prayer service for the release of the seven community leaders arrested in Iran.
The seven Bahai leaders--Fariba Kamalabadi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Behrouz Tavakkoli, Vahid Tizfahm Mahvash Sabet--have been under imprisonment. Some have been in prison for over nine years now.
The Bahai's are a religious minority in Iran.
"On May 28, more than six hundred children, youth and adults and around 5,000 visitors witnessed the release of thousands of balloons into the air as a symbolic act heralding freedom, justice and peaceful co-existence," a statement from the Baha'i Office of Public Affairs said.
The campaign with the theme "Not Another Year" is in support of the global campaign initiated by the Baha'i International Community.
