Accusing chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his deputy Sukhbir of seeking votes in the name of Narendra Modi, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa today said they were covering up the state government's "failures" by talking only about the 'Gujarat Model'.
"Issues like industrialization and creating employment avenues for the youth are the issues which concern the state government. No one stops the state government from focusing on such issues," Bajwa said.
Parkash and Sukhbir keep on parroting that their agenda was to take the state on a higher growth trajectory but ironically they never talk about any 'Punjab model', he said.
He said both the Akali leaders rather keep talking about the Gujarat model "which otherwise has serious flaws".
"Badal senior's vision has remained confined only to Adarsh (model) schools, a project which had doomed. His son had been talking of strengthening the infrastructure while at the grass roots the condition of the roads had become further pitiable in this second term of Badal government," he alleged
Bajwa, the MP from Gurdaspur, was here to attend the filing of nomination papers by Chaudhary Santokh Singh for the April 30 Lok Sabha polls in the State.
"Fully aware that they (Akali govt) stood fully exposed in front of the people in the state who were also fed up with their goonda and mafia raj, they were trying to bank upon Modi, who is a non-issue in Punjab
"Not only that, Modi, in fact will prove to be their nemesis as he had become symbol of the eviction of the Punjabi farmers settled in Kutch area of Gujarat," he said.
