Ban on govt purchases of luxury items in Haryana to continue

Haryana government today said the ban on purchase of luxury items, including air conditioners, carpets, costly furniture and crockery will continue, as part of its austerity drive.
An official release of the Haryana finance department said the ban on purchase of new cars and vehicles in government departments, except replacements, will also continue.
Departmental heads have been directed to strictly adhere to instructions regarding travelling entitlement to various categories, it said.
A total ban has also been imposed on up-gradation of new posts while creation of new posts and filling up of posts lying vacant more than two years would be allowed only under exceptional circumstances by the state finance department, the release added.
The ban has been in place since last year.
