Marketmen said trimming of portfolios by speculators, tracking a weak trend at the domestic spot markets on muted demand, led to the fall in barley prices at futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in December fell Rs 20.50, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 1,820.50 per quintal, with the business turnover of 1,150 open lots.
