Barley prices rose by Rs 22 at Rs 1,410 per quintal at the futures market today after participants widened their positions amid firm demand at the physical markets.
Moreover, tight supplies too supported the upside.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery this month rose by Rs 22, or 1.59 per cent to Rs 1,410 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,990 lots.
On similar lines, delivery in far-month January next year advanced by Rs 18.50, or 1.32 per cent to Rs 1,420 per quintal, having an open interest of 6,040 lots.
Marketmen attributed rise in barley prices at futures trade to pick up in demand against restricted supplies in the market.
