Base metals weaken on reduced demand

Base metals weakened further at the non-ferrous market here today due to poor demand from stockists and industrial users.
However, nickel and copper sheet cuttings rose following good demand from alloy industries.
Copper scrap heavy and brass utensils scrap moved down by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 379 and Rs 275 from Monday's closing level of Rs 382 and Rs 278.
Copper cable scrap, copper wire bar and tin edged down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 385, Rs 413 and Rs 1,318 as against Rs 387, Rs 415 and Rs 1,320 yesterday.
Copper armiture, brass sheet cuttings and zinc softened by Re 1 per kg each to Rs 373, Rs 285 and Rs 167, respectively.
Meanwhile, nickel firmed up by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 738 as compared to Rs 735 yesterday and copper sheet cuttings inched up by Re 1 per kg to Rs 370.
