The election results of the Baroda Cricket Association will be officially declared at its Annual General Meeting here tomorrow.
The meeting, to be held at the BCA office located at Laxmi Vilas Palace Estate, will also announce the members of the managing committee, tournament committee, umpires committee and press committee for 2013-14 and 2014-15, said Sanjay Patel, who has been elected as secretary.
When this AGM met last Sunday for holding the elections, members belonging to the faction of Chirayu Amin, outgoing president, had raised some issues which were overruled by Returning Officer Bindoo Kumar Shah. At one point of time, Amin had threatened to resign from his post. But later, polling process started.
The counting of votes, which began yesterday, is still going on. However, results of important posts have already been announced and Amin's 26-year reign as BCA president ended yesterday after he lost to Samarjitsinh Gaekwad.
Amin lost to Samarjitsinh Gaekwad by a margin of 218 votes. Samarjitsinh defeated Amin by 1066-848 margin.
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel and former Test cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad were elected as secretaries of the association while Amul Jikar was voted as treasurer.
Patel secured 928 votes while Anshuman Gaekwad polled 978 votes. Kiran More, a former Test wicketkeeper, lost out in the election for two secretaries' post as he finished third with 908 votes.
Patel belongs to Samarjitsinh Gaekwad's panel who defeated Amin. Rakesh Parikh and Jitendra Patel were elected as vice-presidents.
Out of 2,378 BCA members that includes clubs and institution votes, 1,918 cast their votes.
