BCC&I initiative to boost Entrepreneurship and Start-ups in WB

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) today organized a "Business Conclave on Entrepreneurship and Start-ups" to boost business climate in West Bengal and encourage and support young upcoming entrepreneurs.
The West Bengal government had earlier launched the State Start-up Policy to nurture and boost new business ventures in the state.
The policy came into effect from January 1, 2016 and will continue till December 2021 and aims to facilitate and support about 10,000 new enterprises by the next decade.
Speaking at the conclave, state IT Secretary and HIDCO Chairman Debashis Sen said the existing environment in Bengal promises to be highly conducive for entrepreneurs and start-ups.

"With new technology, new vistas are opening up new opportunities. Today is the age of networking, co-working and clustering. The future lies not in conventional banks but digital banks," Sen said.
He said the state government is putting a lot of emphasis in building IT parks in Purulia, Bolpur and in few other areas, apart from Sector-V in the city. "

"With artificial intelligence becoming all pervasive, there is also a need to implement steps for cyber security and cyber crime management," Sen said adding a centre for excellence for cyber security is coming up soon.
The chamber has always played a proactive role towards contributing to creating a favourable platform where policy makers, business heads, funders and young start-ups or entrepreneurs could come together to share experiences and take the path forward, said its president C S Ghosh.

A few well known start-up founders like Miftaur Rahaman, co-founder and CFO of Wow Momo Foods Pvt Ltd, Jaydeep Mandal, founder and MD of Aakar Innovations and co-founder and director of Aakar Social Ventures, shared their success stories.
