A block development committee (BDC) member was allegedly murdered here today following which a former BSP MLA, and another person, have been booked, police said.
The body of BDC member, Dinesh Bind, of Chanaura village was found near Patti Bejar, where railway tracks are being laid, station officer, Suryava police, Surendra Kumar Pandey said.
He said Bind had gone out of his home allegedly after receiving a call from the home of ex-BSP MLA Ravindra Tewari.
Tewari's younger brother won Block Pramukh election yesterday, Pandey said.
The alleged murder led to a strong protest by the locals who also beat up two home guard jawans and set their motorcycle on fire, the SO said.
On the complaint of Panna Lal Bind, father of the deceased, an FIR has been filed against Tewari and a supporter of a defeated candidate Sushila Devi, the SO added.
