The officer, Sakharam Isalkar was held receiving the sum yesterday in his chamber from one of the Gramsevaks working under him, Dy SP of ACB Satish Deshmukh said.
Isalkar had demanded Rs 5,000 in two instalments from Gramsevak Ganesh Sukhdeve for scripting a enquiry report in his favour. The first instalment of Rs 2,000 was already given in January.
Two enquiries of alleged irregularities and corruption is pending with the BDO against Ganesh.
The official was caught after Ganesh lodged a complaint with ACB, Yavatmal before payment of the second instalment.
ACB laid a trap and sent Ganesh with marked currency notes following which he was caught.
