Bedi asks youths to take part in sporting events

Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has called upon the youth to participate in sports and games, saying it would infuse "team spirit and organisational capacity" in them.
Distributing medals and trophies and cash awards to teams on the concluding day of the Oorja CAPFs Youth Under 19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017 here today, she said, "The tournament was a good opportunity for young boys and girls to get into sporting events."
"Such opportunities would give the participants a sense of team spirit and would procure several other benefits including awareness about value of time and organisational capacity," she said.
She also appreciated the initiatives of the CRPF which was the nodal central armed police force for the holding of the football tournament in Puducherry from May 2 to May 7.
Shailendra Kumar, the Additional Director General of CRPF (Southern one), Hyderabad was among those present at the event.
The tournament was conducted by the CRPF, in association of the Puducherry State Sports Council and the Puducherry Football Association.
A release said that India was going to host the FIFA Under 17 World Cup in October this year.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has desired that central para military forces and state police organise Under 19 football competitions to create awareness about the game.
