Joining issue with Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy who accused her of blocking development of the union territory, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today sought to know which 'productive' projects she had held back.
"I am here for the good of Puducherry and its people. I will be happy to know of any productive project which is within the financial capability of approved financial budget that I have held back. Chief minister may make it public," she said.
Narayanasamy had at a press conference yesterday accused the Lt Governor of blocking developmental projects and not initiating any steps for development of Puducherry.
He had also charged Bedi with "interfering in the routine administration and functioning of the chief minister, the ministers and officers".
In a WhatsApp message, Bedi said she had been applying her mind on every file without any delay unlike the Chief Minister's Office from where"either I get no reply or receive files sometimes after nearly a year."
The former IPS officer, who has been at loggerheads with the Congress government here on several issues since taking over as Lt Governor last year, also said she had "informed the Union Home Ministry about this."
"It is my duty as an administrator with financial responsibility that I do not approve of any wasteful expenditure to save Puducherry from increasing its growing debt," she said, adding, she had been advising the government to improve its administrative management and financial recoveries.
Bedi also contended in a tweet simultaneously that she was "for total development through wise, budgeted and accountable expenditure and not for unproductive expenses. Public money is held in trust.
