"No honourable member of society should stoop to this level. Congress leaders should know that one can't harm the Sun by spitting at it," Chouhan said, speaking to reporters here.
"Jako Prabhu Darun Dukh Dehi, Taki Mati Pahle Har Lehi (God first takes away intellect from those for whom he has great grief in store). This is Congress' situation now," Chouhan said.
He also took a swipe at Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, whose tweet about the PM had kicked up a similar controversy recently.
Tewari today triggered a row with a Twitter post using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that evoked sharp reactions from the BJP.
In his post, Tewari wrote in Hindi about how Modi "befooled" people and that "Even Mahatma cannot teach MODI Deshbhakti (patriotism)".
