The Chairman of the panel Justice (Retd) N N Singh met the CM and handed over the report to him, Principal Secretary, Home, Amir Subhani said in a statement.
Subhani, who was present during report submission, said the government would initiate necessary steps after studying the report.
Soon after coming to power in November 2005, Nitish Kumar had set up an inquiry commission under Justice (retired) N N Singh to probe the 1989 communal Bhagalpur riots, which claimed over 1,000 lives and left in its wake a trail of devastation.
The panel was tasked to look into suggestions and recommendations made by previous Justice (Retd) R N Prasad commission on Bhagalpur riots instituted during the past RJD government.
