A large number of students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and ABVP activists today took out a march, demanding Bharat Ratna for the varsity founder, Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.
During the march from the university campus to Ravidas Ghat, students demanded that the country's highest civilian award be posthumously conferred on the founder of the university, who had played a significant role in the field of education.
A demand in this regard had been raised earlier at different occasions.
The central government recently announced the highest civilian award for cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and eminent scientist CNR Rao.
