Some BJP leaders including two MLAs today joined a protest against the state party leadership for suspending MLC Lal Babu Prasad from the party over alleged sexual harassment case of a LJP woman legislator recently.
The two BJP MLAs joined a protest held under banner of Bihar Sahu Samaj to protest suspension of Lal Babu Prasad and also attacked new Bihar BJP President Nityanand Rai for showing urgency in cracking whip on the MLC.
Two BJP MLAs -- C N Gupta from Chapra and Lal Babu Prasad Gupta from Chiraiya in East Champaran - accompanied by former minister and ex-MLA Sunil Kumar Pintu and Sanjay Gupta sat on dharna demanding that the suspension of Lal Babu Prasad be revoked.
The protesters raised slogans against state party chief Nityanand Rai.
Sunil Kumar Pintu, who served as minister in the NDA rule told reporters that Nityanand Rai has become "nirankush" (tyrant) and also threatened to gherao BJP President Amit Shah when he comes to Bihar on April 19 over suspension of Lal Babu Prasad.
The Chairperson of state Legislative Council Awdesh Narayan Singh has said that he has not received any written complaint against Lal Babu Prasad than why state leadership showed urgency to suspend him from the party, Pintu said.
The protest and outbursts of some leaders against state party chief today came close on heels of anger expressed by former state BJP General Secretary Sudhir Sharma against Rai.
MLAs C N Gupta and Lal Babu Prasad Gupta joined caste leaders at dharna today but while talking to PTI they refused to make any comment on state party President and merely said their demand was to end suspension of Lal Babu Prasad.
When contacted by PTI, Nityanand Rai did not make any comment and took excuse of a being busy in a meeting.
The BJP central leadership recently appointed Nityanand Rai, MP from Ujiyarpur to head the state unit.
