It has been decided to set the output target of wheat at 72.85 lakh MT wheat during the rabi season 2012-13 and coverage of wheat cultivation area at 23.50 lakh hectares, he said.
The productivity of wheat has been targetted at 3100 kg per hectare, Singh said, adding that the farmers will be encouraged to put to use zero tillage, seed drill and srividhi techniques to reap good harvest of the wheat crop, the Agriculture Minister said.
Similar, the coverage of cultivation area of rabi and garma maize has been set at four and 2.5 lakh hectare this rabi season and the output target fixed at 15 lakh and 8.65 lakh MT respectively, he said.
