More rain is expected over the next 24 hours the local Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office said and warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state.
The heavy showers, which started yesterday but gained momentum today, occurred across the length and breadth of the state, with the IMD attributing it to the monsoon trough that has developed over Bihar and Jharkhand.
The state capital received around 9 centimetres of rainfall since yesterday afternoon, which was enough to induce heavy water logging in the city.
"There will be fairly widespread rains across Bihar and very heavy to heavy rains may occur at a few places. The situation will ease from Monday onwards," said an IMD official posted at Patna.
