Bihar polls: BJP terms JD(U)-RJD-Cong alliance immoral

The "immoral" alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress in Bihar is formed out of "fear" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity and it will face a massive defeat in forthcoming Assembly elections in that state, BJP said today.
Taking a swipe at the so-called "grand alliance" stitched against the BJP, senior leader Dinesh Sharma said the tie-up between JD(U), RJD and Congress is opportunistic.
"Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been the critic of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Both are followers of legendary Jaiprakash Narayan who had led an agitation against the Congress.
"Bihar's pride is at stake in elections. All three (JD-U, RJD and Congress) have come together out of fear for Modi and BJP and the good work done by Centre. This immoral alliance will suffer a staggering defeat," Sharma, national vice-president of BJP and incharge of Gujarat, told reporters here.

He visited the financial capital today to interact with prominent Bihari citizens who are settled in the city, as part of the BJP's election campaign.
Bihar will go for five-phase elections beginning from October 12.

"Bihar Assembly elections are a fight between two ideologies; the nationalist agenda of BJP for strong India and opposition parties having different election symbols with a single-point agenda of 'Modi and BJP hatao'. These parties are not concerned about development," he alleged.
Sharma also hit out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for spreading "falsehood" that he received investment commitments of Rs 33,000 crore during his visit to Mumbai yesterday.

"People of Uttar Pradesh want a break-up of these investment proposals as no top industrialists was present at the meeting yesterday. Since no one is interested in coming to Lucknow, the CM (Yadav) came down to Mumbai but there has been no response here as well," he said.
Sharma said the UP CM's claim on securing financial investments for his state is "false".
"Akhilesh said Uttar Pradesh got investment to the tune of Rs 85,000 crore since he took over as chief minister three years ago. However, there is no investment of even Rs 85 lakh as UP is plagued by corruption, collapse of law and order and acute power crisis," Sharma claimed.
