"I don't see the Bihar verdict in isolation. The state may be backward in terms of development but the people are rich to take wise political decisions of national impact," Pawar told PTI.
"The results show where the country is heading. After the Bihar verdict, it is clear that there is an anti-BJP sentiment in the country. People are not happy with the government at the national level," the Maratha strongman said.
In the Lok Sabha elections last year, BJP won all the 8 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi while a few months later lost heavily in the Assembly polls, the former Union Minister said.
Later, in a statement, Pawar said people of Bihar had handed over a resounding defeat to BJP after Delhi.
"The ruling party at the Centre was rejected due to the growing intolerance, communal politics and false promises," the NCP leader said.
The JDU-RJD-Congress alliance is set for massive victory in the 243-seat Bihar Assembly polls, trouncing the BJP-led grouping.
