A top official told PTI that the new frame of the motorcycle, without engine and tyres, was found buried in the bushes near the Kalarikanmoi (Tank),when officials were clearing an inlet channel to a tank from Theriruveli bridge. According to officials, such methods of stealing the engine or other spares from motorcycles and using them in ferries were reported during the war between the LTTE and Sri Lankan army.
Police are investigating.
