The 35-year-old 'Saturday Night Live' actor is eyeing a role opposite Amy Schumer in the comedy, reported Variety.
Schumer wrote the script, which Barry Mendel ('Bridesmaids', 'This Is 40') will produce alongside Apatow Productions.
Plot details of the film are being kept closely under wraps.
Hader voiced the lead character in last year's 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2'.
He will next be seen starring alongside fellow SNL alumnus Kristen Wiig in 'The Skeleton Twins'.
'Trainwreck' is scheduled for release on July 24, 2015.
