The Legislative Assembly yesterday passed by voice vote the Bill amending the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, which was moved by Minister for Law Mir Saifullah.
The objective of the Bill is to provide reservation to the Pahari-speaking people of the state.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had made the announcement about the reservation on August 15.
The Bill aims at providing job opportunities to the Pahari-speaking people of the state.
The other Bills passed by the House include one to provide for effective provisions for the maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens as guaranteed and recognised under the Constitution.
The Bill to amend the Jammu & Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Bill 2014 was also passed by the House.
The state Assembly met here for a six-day session which was the last session before the state elections due later this year. The session ended yesterday.
Giving details about the business conducted in the House during the session, Speaker Mubarak Gul said Assembly Secretariat received 374 questions, out of which 350 were listed.
As many as 36 issues were raised during the Zero Hour while six Government Bills were introduced and passed. Two Private Members' Bills were introduced and passed.
The House also received 27 Private Members Resolutions, out of which 24 were admitted, one was adopted and three were disallowed, he said.
