 "J- K registers 70% dip in militancy, says Omar Abdullah")
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that incidents of militancy related violence in the state have come down by over 70% in the past five years.
"We should accept that the situation has improved. The militant activities have come down by 70% in the last five years during our coalition government," Abdullah said in the Legislative Assembly.
The chief minister further said he would work for the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that gives security forces sweeping powers to search, arrest or shoot people.
"Still I firmly believe and my efforts will continue to initiate the lifting of the AFSPA during this government's tenure," he added.
