BJP calls on U'khand Guv, demands CBI probe into SIDCUL scam

A delegation of BJP MLAs today called on Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi and demanded a CBI probe into SIDCUL land deals and dissolution of the Bhati Commission, which is looking into a slew of alleged scams during the party's regime in the state.
SIDCUL land deals is an issue over which the opposition MLAs created an uproar in Uttarakhand Assembly for five consecutive days forcing its adjournment sine die ahead of schedule by Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal yesterday.
Alleging a Rs 1,000 crore scam in SIDCUL transactions at Haridwar and Pantnagar to benefit land mafia and real estate firms, BJP MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Ajay Bhatt and former CM Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank submitted a memorandum to the Governor at the Raj Bhawan demanding a CBI probe into the alleged deals.
The delegation also demanded that the Bhati Commission be dissolved immediately, saying that it had been constituted in violation of the prevailing norms out of "political vendetta".
Bhati Commission which is looking into a string of alleged scams during the previous BJP government in the state recently submitted it report on Uttarakhand Seed & Tarai Development Corporation Ltd scam to the state government which tabled it in the state Assembly on March 19.
