Senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma today alleged that the BJP leadership lacked political vision and was "compromising with its last sixty years' stand on Article 370" of the Constitution which accords special powers to Jammu and Kashmir.
"The Jammu and Kashmir BJP leadership lacks any political vision. They are compromising with their last sixty years' stand on Article 370 to even betray the people of Jammu region," Sham, who is seeking re-election from the Akhnoor constituency, said addressing rallies.
"BJP has indeed hijacked Hurriyat Conference's political Agenda," he said and accused BJP of talking in the language of Kashmiri separatists who "have ultimately been rejected by the people".
He assured the people of Jammu to fight for their cause and highlighted works done by him as their representative in the assembly for the past 12 years. "Development will remain my sole agenda," he said.
Sham promised to continue the development works taken up during his tenure like construction of roads and bridges, upgrading and opening of schools and degree colleges, and modernisation of medical and health facilities.
Sharma said Akhnoor got several administrative units during his tenure as MLA.
Sharma promised balanced and equitable development with the people's active participation.
He cautioned the people to remain vigilant against divisive elements such as BJP and RSS who, he said, "exploit the innocent masses on communal lines" and urged them to maintain Akhnoor's historical fraternity and peaceful survival.
