The BJP leaders - state unit president Tai Tagak, party's Jan Andolan Committee Chairman Tame Phassang demanded immediate imposition of financial emergency in the state on the account of "overdrawn" in excess of the arrangement agreed upon with the RBI and stoppage of further payments to the state government.
They alleged that the state government had overdrawn excess of Rs 581 crore from RBI violating fiscal discipline norms due to which, the state government is not in the position to pay the students stipend and contractors payment.
Referring to alleged misappropriation of centrally sponsored scheme (CSS), the party leaders demanded an inquiry from 2011-12 to 2014-2015.
They said the Centre had sanctioned and released an amount of Rs 6490.24 crore to the state government against various centrally sponsored schemes
The BJP leaders alleged that out of the sanctioned amount, a negligible number of projects have been completed leaving majority of the projects either at the stage of commencement or under process and a few never saw the light of the day as the funds were siphoned off.
Tai Tagak appealed the people to come forward to join the movement saying that the BJP was not fighting the cause for its own interest but for the interest of the people.
Tame Phassang announced to launch 12-hour Capital bandh on May 15 next as its first phase of agitation and further threatened to call state-wide bandh in its second phase if the government fails to fulfil the demands.
