The BJP Wednesday expelled Bhausaheb Wakchaure, former MP from Shirdi in Maharashtra, as he is contesting the Lok Sabha elections against the candidate of the BJP ally Shiv Sena.
Wakchaure is contesting from Shirdi as an independent against the Sena's Sadashiv Lokhande.
Bhanudas Berad, Ahmednagar district president of the BJP, said the expulsion order was issued by the party's state office.
Wakchaure, elected from Shirdi in 2009, was expecting that the BJP would field him from the constituency.
However, Shirdi was given to the Sena as part of the seat-sharing deal between the two allies.
