BJP gets majority in 5 out of 6 municipal corporations

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today won five of the six municipal corporations of Rajasthan and its elected councillors would elect a Mayor, a state Election Commission (RSEC) official said.
BJP won 35 out of 60 wards in Bikaner Municipal Corporation leaving Congress at 16 and Independents with 9 wards.
BJP made a landslide victory in Udaipur Municipal Corporation where it won 49 out of 55 wards leaving 3 wards to Congress, one to CPM and 2 to Independents.
Similarly in Kota, BJP won 57 out of 65 wards, Congress in six wards and Independents in 2 wards.
In Jodhpur Municipal Corporation, the BJP won 39 out of 65 wards, Congress won in 19 wards and Independents in 5 wards. Results of two wards were yet to come out.
In Jaipur Municipal Corporation, BJP won 65 out of 91 wards, Congress in 14, while results in 12 wards yet to be declared.
Bharatpur Municipal Corporation would be facing tough task in electing Mayor as BJP is away from the majority by winning 18 out of 50 wards, Congress in 11, BSP in one, and Independents in 20 wards.
Poll results in 18 municipal councils and 22 municipalities are still awaited, the official said.
Of the 46 civic bodies, the polls were held in six municipal corporations of Jaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Bharatpur, 18 municipal councils and 22 municipalities on November 22.
Elected councillors would elect mayors in six corporations and chairmen in 40 civic bodies tomorrow through a process of RSEC in respective cities.
